I am a Professor of Statistics at Auburn University and have been serving as the Director of Statistics and Data Science Programs since 2020. I earned my Ph.D. from Sheffield University in the UK and began my academic career at Çukurova University in Turkey before joining Auburn in 2003. Over the years, I have played a pivotal role in establishing Auburn’s Master’s in Data Science and Engineering, as well as the Ph.D. in Statistics and Data Science. Through my leadership, the Center for Data Science Innovation was also launched, creating new avenues for interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
My career is dedicated to guiding and mentoring Ph.D. and M.S. students, and I’ve served on numerous interdisciplinary committees to foster connections across fields. I am honored to have received several awards, including the College of Sciences and Mathematics Service/Outreach Award for 2023 and the Jack B. Brown Endowed Faculty Award, which recognize my commitment to education, outreach, and the advancement of data science at Auburn University.
