Dr. Anwar Kawtharani is Dean of the School of Education at the Lebanese International University (LIU), a position he has held since 2010. He also serves as Director of International Relations at LIU, a role to which he was appointed by the University Council in 2021. In 2023, he was elected to the Board of Directors of UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union, and he is the Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Knowledge International (AKI), a consultancy specializing in global education and quality assurance.
With extensive expertise in curriculum design, accreditation, and quality assurance, Dr. Kawtharani has led institutional and school-wide initiatives across Lebanon, MENA, West Africa, and Europe. He has collaborated with CERD and local schools in Lebanon, successfully guided accreditation processes, and contributed as a permanent member of the Arab Council of Universities for Quality Assurance. His work in assessment includes long-standing service on the MEHE Executive Board for Official Baccalaureate Exams in English and certification as a Lead Evaluator with Cognia.
Dr. Kawtharani is also an active researcher, PhD supervisor at Lebanese University, and frequent contributor to academic publications, strategic studies, and international conferences, where he represents both institutional and regional perspectives in education and quality assurance.
