Akram Sabek is a Lebanese educational expert and reform leader with over 25 years of experience in education policy, administration, and curriculum development. He has completed his doctoral dissertation in Education / Educational Management at the Lebanese University and is currently awaiting the date of his public defense. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Management (2017), a Teaching Diploma in Chemistry from the Lebanese University (1999), and the Project Management for Development Professionals (PMD Pro) Level 1 certificate from APMG International – Crown Agents (2019).
Sabek has held key leadership roles within Lebanon’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) and the Center for Educational Research and Development (CERD), including Director of the Teachers’ Training Center in Hasbaya, Head of the Educational Management Department, General Coordinator of the Educational Management Project (2019–2024), Coordinator and co-author of the Lebanese National Framework for the General Education Curriculum (2022), and Secretary-General of the National Curriculum Development Committees (since 2021). He also served as a member of the Committee for Evaluating Candidates’ Eligibility for the Management of Public Schools (2020–2024).
He coordinated several national frameworks, including the National Frameworks for the Competencies of School Principals, Supervisors, Coordinators, and Librarians (2019–2022); the National Framework for Academic Accreditation – Updated Standards for the Effective School (2022); and the National Framework for Community Partnerships (2022), among others. He also led the National Plan for Enhancing Educational and Administrative Performance in Lebanon (2023–2024) and a national study, in partnership with CERD, the French Development Agency (AFD), and Nataf3al Group, on school readiness and its effective leadership in light of developed curricula in Lebanon (2024). His most recent publication (2025) focuses on community partnerships supporting public schools.
Internationally, since March 2024, Sabek has been working as a senior educational consultant, collaborating with UNICEF, the EU–GIZ School Leadership Development Program, UNESCO-RCQE, and the British Council, contributing to educational quality assurance, leadership development, and curriculum modernization. He has represented Lebanon in international conferences and research initiatives across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
In recognition of his contributions to educational reform, Sabek received the Order of Knowledge – First Class (Gold Medal) from the Presidency of the Lebanese Republic (2022) and the British Council Award (2023).
