Virtual & Satellite Options

This year we are pleased to offer two new opportunites for those that want to take part in the professional development opportunities, but may not be able to make it to our in-person workshops.

  1. Virtual option: Available for ASOA members. Please contact us if interested in this option.

  2. UW-Superior Satellite Location: For those that live closer to to UW-Superior, consider the satellite option. Please see the message below from David Potter if you think this option would work best for you.

Dear Music Teachers and Learners,

For those of you whom I have not yet met, my name is David Potter, and I am the Assistant Professor/Coordinator of Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. As an Orff-certified member of AOSA, I want to let you all know about an exciting professional development opportunity that will be made available here in Superior this year.

The North Central Wisconsin Orff Chapter will be holding three workshops this year, and over the past year, we have been working on finding a way to make these workshops available to music educators in and around Northern Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. This year, the NCWO and the University of Wisconsin-Superior are teaming up to sponsor these three workshops by having each session held both at the main location and at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS), which will serve as a satellite location, complete with a giant screen depicting the main session, and a full complement of instruments/props needed for each session (including drums, barred instruments, etc.), Most of all, the sessions will serve as opportunities for you and your colleagues to come together to create, share, and engage in music with one another (given the countless hours that many of us have likely spent on a computer, I am especially excited about seeing you all together in person).

Satellite Location for all workshops: UWS (Holden Fine and Applied Arts Center Rehearsal Hall – Room 2133) (all sessions, including lunches, are complimentary):

As this program is a pilot program that is being sponsored by UWS and NCWO, ALL SESSIONS ARE FREE OF CHARGE, and lunch will be provided for free by the university (sandwiches, snacks, etc.). In order to make sure that we order enough lunches for everyone, please email me at dpotter1@uwsuper.edu with your name and the dates you plan on attending (including any dietary needs if applicable), or click the link below and follow the prompts (please note that even if you are not sure right now whether or not you will be able to make it, you are still welcome to attend either way):

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I sincerely hope you will consider attending one or more of these workshops if you are able to do so. After many months of separation, it would be a joy to make music together with you all. In the meantime, I wish you all a wonderful year, and I look forward to connecting with you soon.

Thanks,

David Potter, Ph.D.
