The College of Engineering at National Central University held an all-English workshop, “From Trick-or-Treat to Parties: How We Celebrate Halloween,” on October 28, 2025. Led by Fulbright English Teaching Flagship (ETF) instructor Milan Richardson, the event introduced students to the history and modern traditions of Halloween through engaging, hands-on activities. From the playful “Candy Oracle” icebreaker to an immersive “Murder Mystery” game, participants practiced English communication and teamwork while experiencing cultural learning in a lively atmosphere. The workshop promoted cross-cultural understanding and showcased the College’s commitment to EMI education and international engagement.
工學院於2025年8月28日舉辦「WORD / EXCEL / AI Skills Workshop」,針對外籍學生設計,以全英語授課,聚焦生成式 AI 技術與常用文書工具操作,協助學生提升學術研究與日常應用能力。活動上午邀請機械系林智揚老師主講「生成式 AI 入門」,介紹 HuggingFace 平台與 Prompt 設計概念,搭配實機操作,幫助學生理解 AI 技術在資料生成與語意分析上的應用潛力。下午場則由君邑公司專業講師進行 Word / Excel 操作訓練,針對學術寫作與資料處理的常見需求,帶領學生實作如 VLOOKUP 函數、樞紐分析、條件格式等實用技巧,強化數據整理與報告撰寫能力。活動全程以英語進行,並提供免費午餐,提升參與體驗與交流互動。根據學生回饋問卷,多數參與者表示課程內容實用性高、教師教學清晰,並期望未來持續辦理類似活動,擴展至 Python、SQL、Power BI 等進階技能。本次訓練營除提升外籍生工具使用能力,更展現工學院對國際學生學習支持的承諾,亦是推動跨文化教學與學術融合的具體實踐。
On August 28, 2025, the College of Engineering at National Central University successfully held the "WORD / EXCEL / AI Skills Workshop," a full-day English-language event designed to support international students in acquiring practical and academic digital skills.The morning session featured Dr. Chih-Yang Lin from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, who introduced the fundamentals of Generative AI. His session covered the HuggingFace platform and prompt engineering, with hands-on demonstrations that helped students understand the academic and practical potential of AI tools. In the afternoon, an invited instructor from a corporate training team led an intensive workshop on Microsoft Word and Excel, focusing on real-world functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and conditional formatting. These tools are essential for academic writing, research data analysis, and effective presentation of findings.The workshop was conducted entirely in English and included complimentary lunch to foster interaction. Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants praising the clarity of instruction and relevance of content. Many expressed interest in follow-up workshops covering advanced topics such as Python, SQL, Power BI, and data visualization.This workshop not only enhanced participants’ digital competencies but also strengthened cross-cultural engagement and academic integration, exemplifying the College’s ongoing commitment to supporting international students and promoting inclusive education.
國立中央大學工學院於2025年5月20日舉辦年度「酷派爭霸讚-程式應用菁英賽」,邀請院內各系學生組隊參賽,以實際問題為出發點,發展具創意與應用性的程式解決方案,並透過書審與現場簡報展示成果,展現學生的跨域協作與實作實力。
參賽作品主題多元,涵蓋智慧生活、工程應用、資料視覺化等方向,學生團隊以程式語言為工具,結合感測器應用、圖像處理、資料演算等技術,從想法構思一路走向具體實作與現場展示。
本競賽強調「解決問題」而非單純寫程式,鼓勵學生發揮創意思維並整合所學,將專題從課堂延伸至真實情境。透過競賽平台,工學院鼓勵學生勇於挑戰、合作創新,展現工程學習的實踐力與影響力。
The College of Engineering at National Central University hosted its annual Cool Code Challenge on May 20, 2025, inviting student teams to solve real-world problems through innovative programming solutions. This competition emphasized not just coding proficiency, but the ability to integrate ideas, tools, and teamwork into meaningful, practical outcomes.
Students presented a wide range of projects—from smart living applications and engineering tools to data visualization platforms—leveraging programming languages along with sensor technologies, image processing, and data analytics. Each team advanced from initial concept to working prototypes, culminating in live presentations and Q&A sessions.
The competition highlighted creativity, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and problem-solving as core values. By encouraging students to apply their knowledge to real challenges, the event showcased the strength of engineering education at NCU in turning ideas into impactful solutions.
為促進學生與院方之間的良性對話,國立中央大學工學院於2025年5月6日舉辦學生座談會,由曹恆光院長親自主持,邀集院內各系學生幹部,針對課程設計、教學環境、EMI課程學習與工程教育創新進行面對面交流。
座談中,院方說明了包括雙語學習社群補助、EMI課程獎勵辦法、英文增能課程及多益報名資訊等學生關心的學習資源,同時也介紹新推動的「新工程教育方法實驗與建構計畫」,期望以主題式課程與專題實作結合,強化跨域學習與問題導向教學。
本次座談為工學院搭建學生與行政團隊之間的溝通橋樑,強調師生共構學習環境的重要性,也為後續課程與資源設計提供了寶貴意見。
To foster meaningful dialogue between students and administration, the College of Engineering at National Central University held a Student Forum on May 6, 2025. Hosted by Dean Heng-Kuang Tsao, the forum brought together student representatives from various departments for face-to-face discussions on curriculum design, learning environments, EMI support, and educational innovation.
The session covered several key resources, including bilingual learning community grants, EMI course incentives, English enrichment programs, and TOEIC registration. The College also introduced its latest initiative—the Experimental and Constructive Program for New Engineering Education—which emphasizes interdisciplinary learning and real-world problem-solving through themed course clusters and hands-on project work.
This forum served as an important platform for listening to student voices, strengthening mutual understanding, and co-creating a more responsive and supportive learning environment within the College.

Bringing Projects to Life: Real-World Review Meets Hands-On Innovation
The College of Engineering at National Central University hosted its 2025 Capstone Project Showcase, a major event highlighting student-designed, semester-long engineering projects. On January 7, 2025, the College of Engineering at National Central University held its English Presentation and Poster Competition, inviting students to present their research entirely in English through oral talks and poster showcases. The event aimed to enhance students' abilities in academic communication, visual design, and technical storytelling. Participants competed in two categories: oral presentations and poster+video presentations. The competition not only highlighted students’ engineering knowledge and research efforts, but also emphasized their ability to communicate scientific ideas clearly and confidently in English—an essential skill in today’s global academic landscape. Through this event, the College fosters internationally-minded engineers who are ready to share their work with the world.
