The BYU-Idaho Mathematics Education Society is a way for math education majors and minors (or anyone interested in teaching math) to share ideas, get to know people in your major/minor, and learn more about how to become a math teacher. It is an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), so if you join you will get the benefits of being part of the NCTM.
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, or NCTM, is the national organization for math teachers. They provide a host of resources, including magazines, books, and conferences. If you want to be a math teacher, then you want to be part of the NCTM.
We meet the second and fourth Wednesdays at 7:00pm in Ricks 180.
