The JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru is a constituent college of JSS AHER, Mysuru. Since 1973, the college has made great strides in meeting specific needs of both students and patients, exploring new frontiers in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Practice. The college offers a comprehensive package of education and training opportunities beginning with the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), B. The Pharmacy Practice, patient-oriented course, was started at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru in 1995 (first of its kind in India). The Department of Clinical Pharmacy was established at JSS Hospital, Mysuru in April 1997. The objective of the Department is to impart patient-oriented pharmacy education and train the students in Clinical Pharmacy Practice on par with international standards and to provide Clinical Pharmacy services at JSS Hospital and other practice sites in and around Mysuru. The Department is equipped with well-trained staff and adequate infrastructure facilities. Department adopts various innovative pedagogy and experiential education in teaching and training the students. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was constituted in 1945 as an advisory body in all matters relating to technical education. Even though it had no statutory powers, it played a very important role in the development of technical education in the country. In view of the recommendations by Kothari Commission of 1964, AICTE became a statutory body through an Act of Parliament 52, in 1987. The Council, i.e. AICTE was established with a view to the proper planning and co-ordinated development of the technical education system throughout the country, the promotion of qualitative improvement of such education in relation to planned quantitative growth and the regulation and proper maintenance of norms and standards in the technical education system for matters connected therewith (https://www.aicte-india.org/).
The International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) is a non-profit international professional membership organization dedicated to advancing the health of the public by providing a forum for the open exchange of scientific information and for the development of policy; education; and advocacy for the field of Pharmacoepidemiology, including Pharmacovigilance, drug utilization research, outcomes research, comparative effectiveness research, and therapeutic risk management (https://www.pharmacoepi.org).
Executive Committee of ISPE approved the Faculty of Pharmacy, JSS AHER, Mysuru to establish a ISPE student chapter in June 2014.
