ncNotes privacy policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
ncNotes is a Chrome extension that shows notes from a Nextcloud Notes server you choose. This policy describes what the extension does with your information. The developer is TwoOneSix. Contact: 80nnmss3@duck.com.
What the extension does
You enter a Nextcloud server address, a username, and a Nextcloud app password. The extension then downloads your note list and the text of notes you open, and shows them in the Chrome toolbar popup or the Chrome side panel. About every six hours it checks that server again for notes that are out of date.
Information the extension handles
The extension handles only what it needs to sign in and show your notes:
The server address you enter.
Your Nextcloud username.
Your Nextcloud app password.
Your choice of popup or side panel.
Note data returned by your server, including titles, note text, categories, favorite and read-only flags, modification times, and cache timestamps.
Temporary status while a request is in progress, such as which note is open and any error message from the last request. Chrome clears this when the browsing session ends.
The extension does not read your browsing history, other websites, or other extensions. It does not include advertising or analytics.
Where that information goes
The username, app password, server address, display choice, and cached notes are stored in Chrome’s local extension storage on your device. They are not sent to the developer.
The extension sends your username and app password only to the Nextcloud server you entered, as an HTTP Basic authentication header, and only to request your notes from that server’s Notes API. Your notes stay on that server and in the local cache on your device.
Use an https:// address. If you enter an http:// address, the browser sends your app password and notes without encryption.
How long it is kept
Saved sign-in details and cached notes remain on the device until you remove them. Removing ncNotes in Chrome deletes the extension’s stored data on that device. Temporary status is cleared when the browsing session ends.
Signing in with a different server or username updates the saved account. Notes already cached for an earlier account can remain on the device until you remove the extension.
Selling and other uses
This information is used only to show your Nextcloud notes. It is not sold. It is not transferred to third parties, used for advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
