Transportation crashes, for the purpose of this document, refer to unintentional injuries and deaths that occur on a public highway, street, or road and involve occupants of motorized or non-motorized vehicles or pedestrians. As evidenced by Table 1 in the Strategic Plan, motor vehicle injuries are in the top 10 causes of death for all ages.
