Annotated Bibliography

The Annotated Bibliography is a very important part of your History Day project. It showcases all of your research and explains how each source helped you create your project. National History Day requires that Annotated Bibliographies use the most recent edition of one of the two permitted style guides:

  1. The Chicago Manual of Style by the University of Chicago Press

  2. MLA Handbook by the Modern Languages Association of America

Regardless of which one you use, the style must be consistent throughout all written material. Ask your teacher if they suggest or require a certain style. Your school or local library should have the manuals available to check-out for free.
