I am currently the 2nd Grade Teacher here at Nettle Creek Elementary School. This will be my 20th year here at Nettle Creek. I graduated from the University of St. Francis in Joliet after being a teachers aide for 4 years at Troy Shorewood Elementary. I worked with many autistic children and students with learning disabilities. I also work at AppleButter & Shugies once in a while just for fun!
I am happily married to my husband Nick Doerfler, who was a Lt. Firefighter Paramedic at Coal City Fire Protection District but is now the Deputy Chief. He wears many hats as a firefighter paramedic, he is the Public Information Officer that keeps the media in the know of what is going on with incidents and weather related calls.
We have 2 amazing boys, Patrick who is 13and is in Eighth Grade at Coal City Middle School. Patrick likes flaG flag football, scouts, band/choir/theatre and anything with numbers. Blaise is our youngest who's a sassy 11 year old. He's a sixth grader at Coal City middle school . He is an ALL out boy, who loves to be outside, riding his bike and playing flag football. He wants to be a Game warden and so fishing and collecting pocket knives is his passion.
We are always on the go, from practices, to visiting family, to the beach, or just hanging out in the backyard. I can say we are an Adventurous Family. We are a scout family and we are proud to say we belong to Troop 471 in Morris. As a family we volunteer for Grundy County Heroes and Helpers and the Joliet Chapter of Pink Heals. Both are very important to our family.
January of 2020, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. By March, I had started Chemo, had surgery that July and had 36 rounds of radiation. I'm cancer free, but still have many doctor appointments throughout the year.
We love to go camping, laughing, dancing, and be silly together! Life is short, so Live it Up!
