Join us in this room to receive your extemp topics and begin preparing your speech. You should do your best to stay in the room as you prep but feel free to mute your mic and the room as you prep.
The judge will have the impromptu quotations on their eBallot. When it’s your turn to speak your judge will copy/paste the prompts into the chat window in the Live Video Room.
The judge will have all five IPDA topics on their eBallot. At the start of the round go to your Live Video Room. The judge will copy/paste the resolutions into the chat window. Each team will strike as normal. Turn off your audio/visual feeds in the room during prep. 30 minutes later the round will commence.
Topics will be announced in the NPDA Topic Announce room and livestreamed on YouTube (we will send out the link during the lunch break before Round 1 on Saturday).
Roll call will be taken and the final resolution for each round will be posted after it is announced.
Prep Time will be 25 minutes in total and a countdown timer will be used to assess a "late" penalty to the first speech of a team that is late to the round. Please make sure you give yourself enough time to log-in and handle technical difficulties.
The judges guide will walk you through the basics of judging. You will learn how to set your notification preferences and how to accept, view, and confirm your ballots.

All tournament attendees are to be protected from an intimidating, hostile, or threatening work or educational environment. All attendees will be held to the standards established by California Education Code 212.5 and/or Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in being removed from the tournament and/or being disqualified from the round in question. All incidences of such violations should be reported to the tournament host. Judges will be instructed that they may dismiss or award a loss to a student who violates California Education Code 212.5 and/or Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
