Dr. Cheng-han Wu
Dr. Cheng-han Wu holds a PhD in English literature from National Chengchi University. In his EMI course, Dr. Wu emphasizes enhancing communication skills by encouraging students to explore a fascinating array of thought-provoking articles and inspiring speeches, while analyzing the English and Chinese languages used in Taiwan.
Passionate about languages, Dr. Wu creates a bilingual learning environment where everybody feels welcome. To help students to communicate better, Dr. Wu thus draws on our everyday TV programs, Hollywood films, pop songs, and advertisements to spark students’ interest in the languages employed in the media landscape. Students will have a more comprehensive understanding of the media in a bilingual context, especially in Taiwan. Come along as we explore the bilingual world of communication.
Dr. William Chien-wei Yang
Dr. William Chien-wei Yang received his PhD in English literature from National Taiwan Normal University and has been a faculty member of the English Taught Program, College of Commerce, for 13 years. With 15 years of experience in EMI teaching, Dr. Yang sees himself as more a coach than a teacher in English learning. Through offering highly customized learning content and comprehensive feedback on learner performance, Dr. Yang strives to break free from the conventional one-size-fits-all model and offers individual learner-based coaching.
Dr. Yang’s courses concentrate on 2 main themes: 1) oral and written communication at the workplace and business-related settings and 2) English learning through culture and technology. Students will learn essential communication skills at the workplace, including business briefing, networking, product promotion, and self- branding. Dr. Yang will also guide students through their exploration of the cultural contexts of the English language and use of technology for optimal learning outcomes.
