D2L Brightspace Training Information
Please note the following information regarding NCC campus training requirements:
SUNY will be providing the Brightspace Fundamentals training, offering both asynchronous and synchronous options. Importantly, training will address the needs of faculty teaching in all delivery modes, including faculty who will use the LMS to teach online as well as faculty who utilize the LMS as a resource in their in-person classes and those who teach in hybrid instructional models.
Asynchronous Training:
All faculty have access automatically to the SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamental Asynchronous course, which is organized in modules, a format that models an actual course.
The course provides a convenient way for faculty to progress through the training in a self-paced mode.
or
Synchronous Training:
SUNY’s Online Training team will be conducting live sessions offered through Zoom that present the Brightspace Fundamentals content. The sessions are restricted to 10-15 participants per session and consist of four (two-hour) workshops (eight hours in total).
General Schedule: Synchronous Remote sessions typically run once every other week, Monday through Thursday 11:00am-1:00pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm. (For exact dates, please click on this SUNY registration link.)
The SUNY DLE will increase programming based on demand.
There are knowledge checks at the end of the modules in the Brightspace Fundamental Asynchronous course. Upon completion of the knowledge checks, faculty will earn a Brightspace Fundamentals certificate. A Credly digital badge from the SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD) will be issued via email approximately one week later. Whichever training option (Asynchronous or Synchronous) selected, faculty will need to complete the knowledge checks to earn a SUNY Credly badge.
Hybrid Support:
The Office of Distance Education will be offering live themed weekly drop-in sessions beginning the week of April 24th to provide support in conjunction with the asynchronous course. Content from the modules in the asynchronous course will be reviewed; feel free to drop in and ask questions in a supportive environment.
Links to recordings of previous sessions (Scaled Webinars or Fundamentals Workshops) are also available on the
SUNY DLE web site for reference or use in conjunction with the asynchronous course.
