Consistent with SBE policy CHTR 007, the NCDPI Office of Charter Schools (OCS) will provide the SBE with a NC Charter Schools Renewal Report (NCCSRR) that is designed to contain all of the information the SBE will need to evaluate the status of your school. The NCCSRR will reference data and reports from various NCDPI divisions: OCS, Financial and Business Services, Accountability, Exceptional Children, Federal Program Monitoring, Child Nutrition, and/or any other division that may have information pertinent to the evaluation of your school. Also part of this report will be information from the charter renewal self-study that your board and school leader will complete. The self-study contains questions related to how you have fulfilled the school's mission, and education program, including the school goals.

The Challenges of COVID-19
One of the great joys of the Renewal process are school site visits! Meeting students, interviewing stakeholders and experiencing the culture of schools first-hand are intricate parts of seeing the full picture of a school's mission. Unfortunately, COVID-19 ended not just school site visits, but school as we know it all together. The virtual site visit process was created to ensure all schools were able to complete the Renewal process as required by legislation.
Each school was provided a list of artifacts that must be presented during their virtual site visit. Schools were challenged to be as creative as possible in their presentations. In addition, a virtual conference room was established for each school that allowed stakeholders to enter the room at the scheduled interview time just as if they were walking in and out of a conference room. This process was new, but embraced by charter school stakeholders across the state. This google site was created to give readers a glimpse of North Carolina's first virtual charter school renewal site visits.
