This website was first created for the EDUC 101 & EDUC 411 classes at North Central College as an extension of a workshop on Diversity in Children's Literature for pre-service educators.  

This site strives to highlight the following materials:

• created by BIPOC & 2SLGBTQIA+ authors and illustrators

• depicts the lived experiences of diverse characters

• information and resources for educators looking to diversify their classroom libraries and curriculum

The books listed on this site are updated twice a year.

The update will include the following site improvements:

• Reformatting each entry to ensure consistency across book lists

• Adding publication dates

• Updates to each book list to include titles published in 2024 & 2025

• New book list on immigrants & refugees
