Why September - The roads are busy from Easter to August, September should be a bit more "fun".
Why clockwise - Driving clockwise will put the sun behind you when driving the more spectacular sections of the route, gives the passenger fantastic sea views while the driver enjoys the driving and means your fresh for the more technical bits...It also leaves the more relaxing part of the route from John O'Groats to Inverness to the last day
Day 0 - The Night Before
We will arrange to meet at a local restaurant in Aviemore for those travelling up the night before the start to enjoy some local food, talk cars and get in the mood for 3 days of fantastic driving.
Why Aviemore - Easy parking, good hotels and all within walking distance of each other.....
Day 1 - Inverness to Ullapool
The North Coast 500 starts at Inverness Castle, however there is no parking at the castle and the roads around the area are a bit of a nightmare to get a group of cars together. We will plan the event start to be in the Inverness area...with the first group setting off at around 9am
Everyone will already know which group they are travelling with, with starting times spread out...so we don't upset the locals.
The route will take us west out of Inverness to Applecross then north to our overnight stop at Ullapool.
Day 2 - Ullapool to Thurso

Day 3 - Thurso to Inverness with a we detour to Dunnet Head
