Student Voice Alliance seeks to establish sustainable pathways for student engagement in education governance across North Carolina. By empowering students with knowledge of education policy, providing them with structured opportunities to attend and contribute to school board meetings, and administering student-centered surveys, the project aims to foster civic responsibility, amplify student voices, and improve decision-making in public education.
Student Voice Alliance collects input from students on issues affecting their education through short, anonymous surveys. Student input is analyzed and delivered to policymakers to illuminate how students feel about issues affecting their education. The Governor's Office, State Board of Education, local school district others, and others have been presented with data.
North Carolina public schools serve more than 1.5 million unique and talented students. Every decision made in education policy impacts students in some shape or form. Through student input, policymakers are able to make more informed decisons through shaping policies from student feedback.
For Student Voice Alliance to function, student input is needed. Community leaders and students, sign up to be notified of future surveys and updates from the Student Voice Alliance team! Students, educators, parents, and community members alike, are encouraged to spread the word about Student Voice Alliance and motivate students to make their voices heard. Together, we can connect students with the education policies that impact their future.
Student Voice Alliance was created and is directed by Ian House, a North Carolina public schools student. House receives support from other students in executing Student Voice Alliance.
