Team Size:
Each team has 8 players.
A team must have 8 players to start a game.
If someone gets hurt or sick during the game, teams can finish with 7 players, but not fewer.
Rosters:
Teams must have at least 8 and no more than 16 players on their roster.
Game Schedule:
Games are scheduled by the NC Rec Department.
Tentative game days:
Saturday Mornings starting after Labor Day
Player Eligibility
Players can only be on one team.
Coin Toss:
Starting the Game:
Offense begins at their own 5-yard line.
You get 4 plays to reach the first down.
4th Down Option:
On 4th down, you can either:
Go for it, or
Give the ball to the other team, who will start at their own 5-yard line. (No punts.)
Turnovers:
After a turnover (except an interception), the new offense starts from their 5-yard line.
Second Half Choice:
The team that didn’t choose at the start gets the choice to begin the second half.
Coach on the Field
One coach may help on the field to call plays, but must move out of the way before the snap.
Flags:
Teams must wear "pop-style" flags (Rec Dept will provide).
No tampering—don't shorten or alter flags.
Flags can't be the same color as the player's shorts.
Flags must be worn on the hips, outside all clothing, and must stay visible and unobstructed
Jerseys:
Teams must wear Rec issued team jerseys.
Jerseys and hoodies must be tucked in.
Mouthpieces:
All players must wear one. (NC players will get theirs from the Rec Dept)
Footwear:
Rubber cleats or athletic shoes only.
No metal cleats or baseball spikes.
Headwear:
Soft knit hats or softshell flag football helmets are okay.
No baseball caps.
Not Allowed:
Hard or metal equipment (like braces, casts, or metal cleats).
No jewelry of any kind (bracelets, rings, earrings, etc.).
Game Balls:
Footballs will be provided for each game.
The field is 30 yards wide and 70 yards long, with 5-yard end zones.
First downs are marked at:
The 20-yard lines
Midfield (35-yard line)
Hash marks are placed at:
The 10-yard lines (for extra point attempts)
The 5-yard line (where all offensive drives begin)
