1. Where is IIT Delhi?
IIT Delhi is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi, a central and well-connected part of the capital city of India. The campus is easily accessible by road, metro, and air. It is around 10 km from the New Delhi Railway Station, 15 km from the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, and about 15 km from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It takes approximately 30–45 minutes to reach the campus by car or taxi from the airport or railway stations depending on traffic conditions.
2. How to reach the campus?
Delhi is well-connected to all major cities in India via road, rail, and air. It is a hub for domestic and international travel, with multiple railway stations and one of the busiest airports in the country.
Delhi has frequent train services connecting it with cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, and others.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) operates numerous daily domestic and international flights. Prepaid taxi services, app-based cabs, and Delhi Metro Airport Express Line provide connectivity from the airport to various parts of the city.
Delhi Metro is one of the most convenient ways to reach IIT Delhi. The nearest metro station is Hauz Khas Metro Station (Yellow Line), which is about 2 km from the campus. Auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws are easily available from the metro station to the IIT Delhi Main Gate.
(a) From Airport to Campus:
You can take a prepaid taxi or app-based cab (Ola/Uber) to reach IIT Delhi from the airport. The campus is around 15 km away and usually takes 30–40 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively, you can take the Airport Metro Express to New Delhi Metro Station and change to the Yellow Line towards HUDA City Centre; get off at Hauz Khas Station and take a short rickshaw ride to the campus.
(b) From Railway Station to Campus:
From New Delhi Railway Station or Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, you can take a prepaid taxi or use the Delhi Metro. From New Delhi Station, board the Yellow Line (via Chandni Chowk Metro Station) to Hauz Khas Metro Station. From there, take an auto-rickshaw or e-rickshaw to IIT Delhi. The campus is about 10–15 km from these major railway stations and takes around 30–40 minutes by road.
