The Speakers

A Professor of Computer Science and a leader of "Algorithms, Complexity Theory and Optimisation" group.

His research is mostly in the study of different reachability questions and the boundaries between decidable and undecidable problems that concern automata, formal languages, semigroups and iterative maps.

Also interested in the design and analysis of algorithms in distributed computational models and particularly interested in self-organization, pattern formation and analysis of computational power.

An Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, teaching on the Data Science programme. His research lies at the interface of Geometric/Combinatorial Group Theory and Computer Science.

Associate Professor in Computing Sciences, School of Computing Sciences at University of East Anglia

Also a member of CitAI, the research centre in artificial intelligence at City.

Lecturer in Mathematics, School of Mathematics, UEA, Norwich.

Research interests: Model theory of modules, Ziegler spectra, injective modules, (representations of) finite dimensional algebras, ordered fields.

A Ramón y Cajal Fellow Researcher at University of Seville.

A group theorist studying braid groups, Artin groups and mapping class groups via Garside structures, combinatorial methods and geometric group theory.

A mathematician and an informatician. His research interests lie primarily in combinatorial group and semigroup theory, but also include the history of mathematics, formal language theory, logic, and combinatorics.

PhD student in the department of Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at University of Hertfordshire
