Central Michigan University

Students must apply for the Presidential Scholarship and visit campus to be considered. The top 21 students in the PSC receive $23,700 full-ride scholarship for a maximum of four years or 124 credits if they meet the renewal criteria. To keep this scholarship, you must be enrolled in 15 credits each semester, maintain a 3.5 GPA, meet SAP,* and live in EMU's residence halls all four years.

4WARD Graduation Scholarship

Available to incoming freshmen starting Fall 2019.

The 4WARD Graduation Scholarship offers a four-year graduation commitment. When you successfully complete 2 years at Eastern Michigan University, we will fund your full tuition for your remaining two years. To initially qualify, you need to have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and 20 ACT or 1030 SAT (on 1600 scale).

You pay for your first two consecutive years of tuition at a locked-in tuition rate of approximately $13,000 per year (30 credits). Then EMU will pay for 100% of your next two consecutive years of tuition (30 credits a year).

You’ll live in an on-campus community for each of the four years at a locked-in room & board rate of approximately $10,500 a year, which includes a standard double room and a standard meal plan. To remain eligible, students must enroll in 30 credits per academic year, maintain a 2.0 EMU GPA, and meet SAP.* The benefits of the 4WARD scholarship are not extended into the summer semester.

Emerald Scholarship

This scholarship is based on GPA, test scores, and U.S. citizenship. The amount is $1,500–$8,000 for four years if you meet renewal criteria of enrolling in 12 hours each semester, maintaining a 2.75 EMU GPA, and meeting SAP.* Priority deadline is May 1. Education First Opportunity Scholarship (EFOS)

This scholarship awards you $13,233 (Tuition minus Pell Grant = EFOS) for four years if you meet renewal criteria. To initially qualify, you need to have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and 20 ACT or 1030 SAT (on 1600 scale). It's open to incoming freshman who have filed a FAFSA and are Pell Grant eligible by February 1.

To renew your scholarship, you must enroll in 15 credits each semester, maintain a 2.75 EMU GPA and meet SAP.* You also must file your FAFSA each year by April 1 and remain Pell Grant eligible.

Residence Hall Award

Residence Hall Awards** apply to traditional residence halls only. Brown/Munson, Cornell, Westview, and 601 West Forest are not traditional residence halls and not eligible to use this funding.

Challenge Award

Awarded to students admitted prior to Fall 2017.

The renewal criteria requires you to enroll in 12 hours each semester, maintain a 2.5 EMU GPA and meet SAP.*

National Scholars Program (NSP)

Awarded to students admitted prior to Fall 2018.

This scholarship awards $18,900 (difference between resident and non-resident tuition) for four years award (maximum 124 credit hours) if you meet renewal criteria. Initial criteria requires a 2.75 high school GPA, 20 ACT or 950 SAT or higher, and non-resident admission status. The renewal criteria requires you to enroll in 15 credits each semester, maintain a 2.75 EMU GPA , meet SAP,* and maintain non-resident status. The priority deadline June 1.

*SAP = Satisfactory Academic Progress: Requires you to earn passing grades in a minimum of 67% of the credit hours you take. Grades of F, W, I, N, NC or repeated classes are not "earned."

**If renewable, Residence Hall Awards require that students are meeting the renewal criteria (including minimum 2.75 GPA and SAP) for their university scholarship. Log into my.emich.edu to view scholarship requirements.


FOUNDER'S SCHOLARSHIP

  • Value - $10,000 per year/$40,000 for four years

  • Criteria: 31 ACT or 1350 SAT score and a 3.90/4.00 scale HS GPA.

  • Requires continuous full-time enrollment

  • Renewal cumulative GPA: 3.30

PRESIDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP

  • Value - $6,000 per year/$24,000 for four years

  • Criteria: 29 ACT or /1300 SAT score and a 3.70/4.00 scale HS GPA

  • Requires continuous full-time enrollment

  • Renewal cumulative GPA: 3.30

PROVOST'S SCHOLARSHIP

  • Value - $4,500 per year/$18,000 for four years

  • Criteria: 26 ACT or 1210 SAT score and a 3.50/4.00 scale HS GPA

  • Requires continuous full-time enrollment

  • Renewal cumulative GPA: 3.00

DEAN'S SCHOLARSHIP

  • Value - $3,500 per year/$14,000 for four years

  • Criteria: 24 ACT or 1140 SAT score and a 3.40/4.00 scale HS GPA

  • Requires continuous full-time enrollment

  • Renewal cumulative GPA: 3.00

FERRIS GOLD SCHOLARSHIP

  • Value - $2,000 per year/$8,000 for four years

  • Criteria: 22 ACT or 1080 SAT score and a 3.25/4.00 scale HS GPA

  • Requires continuous full-time enrollment

  • Renewal cumulative GPA: 2.75

FERRIS CRIMSON SCHOLARSHIP

  • Value - $1,500 per year/ $6,000 for four years

  • Criteria: 21 ACT or 1040 SAT score and a 3.00/4.00 scale HS GPA

  • Requires continuous full-time enrollment

  • Renewal cumulative GPA: 2.75

FERRIS NEXT SCHOLARSHIP

Value - $1,000 per year/ $4,000 for four years

  • Renewal cumulative GPA: 2.75

  • Requires continuous full-time enrollment

  • Criteria:

    • Must be admissible for degree granting program at Ferris State University

    • Must have graduated from high school

    • Must enroll full-time at one of Ferris State University sites within one year of graduation. Example: if you graduate in June 2018, you must begin classes at Ferris State by no later than Spring semester 2019. Please click here if you are a Kendall College of Art & Design student.

    • Must have successfully earned a C or better in at least 3 credits through a Ferris collaborative high school agreement

    • Scholarship is renewable for 3 years (option of 4 with administrative review) with satisfactory academic progress and a 2.75 accumulative grade point.

    • Ferris Next Scholarships may be offered to dual enrolled high school students that meet the criteria above, before the student has earned a final grade in the class. If the student fails to earn a C or better in the Ferris class, the offer will be cancelled.


The Robert and Ellen Thompson Scholarship programs provide students with the financial, academic and individualized support needed to successfully pursue and complete their college degree. Working closely with the Thompson Foundation, GVSU strives to engage and connect with our scholars to achieve the student outcomes that Bob and Ellen Thompson envisioned and that their generosity has made possible.

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Annual Award: $4,000 to $7,000

  • Must have a 3.8 or higher high school cumulative grade point average and composite ACT score of 32 or higher or score of 1430 or higher on the new SAT combined score on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math

  • Must participate in a scholarship competition to be eligible. Competitions typically take place in November and January.

  • Awardees also receive an Award for Excellence Scholarship

  • Additional amounts of up to $2,000 are awarded to students who are National Merit Finalists

  • Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Grand Valley

  • Requires full-time enrollment

  • Renewable for three additional consecutive years

  • Total award value: $16,000 to $28,000

FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP

Annual Award: $1,000 to $3,000

  • Must have a 3.6 or higher high school cumulative grade point average and composite ACT score of 30 or higher or score of 1370 or higher on the new SAT combined score on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math

  • Must participate in a scholarship competition to be eligible. Competitions typically take place in November and January.

  • Awardees also receive an Award for Excellence Scholarship

  • Additional amounts of up to $2,000 are awarded to students who are National Merit Finalists

AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Must have a 3.5 or higher high school cumulative grade point average and composite ACT score of 26 or higher or score of 1240 or higher on the new SAT combined score on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math

  • Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Grand Valley

  • Requires full-time enrollment

  • Renewable for three additional consecutive years

  • Total award value: Michigan Resident: $20,000 Non-Michigan Resident: approximately $40,280

LAKER SCHOLARSHIP

Annual Award: Michigan Resident: $2,000 Non-Michigan Resident: $2,000 plus the difference between full-time Michigan resident tuition and non-resident tuition

  • Must have a 3.3 or higher high school cumulative grade point average

  • Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Grand Valley

  • Requires full-time enrollment

  • Renewable for three additional consecutive years

  • Cannot be combined with Award for Excellence, Faculty, or Presidential Scholarship

URBAN SCHOOLS SCHOLARSHIP

Annual Award: Michigan Resident: $3,000 Non-Michigan Resident: $3,000 plus the difference between full-time Michigan resident tuition and non-resident tuition

  • Awarded at application review specifically to students from select urban high schools.

  • Select schools from the following areas are included:

    • Grand Rapids Public Schools

    • Detroit Public Schools

LAKERS GO ABROAD! SCHOLARSHIP

Award Amount: $2,000

  • Scholarship requires full-time enrollment and GVSU must be first institution attending after high school

  • This is a one-time only award

  • Awardees are still eligible for additional study abroad scholarships

  • To access scholarships after enrollment, awardee must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress at Grand Valley

  • Scholarship must be used within four years after initial enrollment at GVSU, and may only be used on a GVSU-approved, for-credit study abroad program


Laker Gold Scholarship Competition

  • Value:

    • 1 Laker Premium: Full Ride (12-16 credits tuition + base rate room & board)

    • 1 Laker Gold: Full tuition only (12-16 credits)

    • 3 Silver: $3,500

    • 3 Bronze: $2,000

  • Criteria: High School seniors with a minimum 3.5 GPA, must have applied for admission to be invited to attend the annual competition and respond by invitation date.

Philip A Hart Scholarship

  • Value: Full tuition up to 16 credits per semester

  • Criteria: Must be a Michigan resident with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Alumni Legacy Award

  • Value: $2,000, non-renewable

  • Criteria: Must be a child or stepchild of an LSSU alumnus entering as a freshman. Must submit a certification form.

  • Value: $2,000-Renewable for 1 additional year

  • Criteria: Incoming Freshmen or Transfer students. Students must be living on campus. FAFSA must be filed. Student must demonstrate some need.

  • Value: $1,000-Renewable for 1 additional year

  • Criteria: Re-admitted students with LSSU GPA of 2.5 or higher. Transfer students with 1-11 earned credit. FAFSA must be filed.

  • Winners of The Naegele Competitive Scholarship could be awarded up to an additional $40,000 over four years – the deadline to enter is January 10th, 2021.

  • High school students who participate in DECA, BPA, HOSE, VEI, JA, FCCLA, FBLA, and Skills USA are eligible for the NU Business Club Scholarship (2.5 minimum GPA required).

  • Students who complete the FAFSA may be eligible for the Michigan Tuition Grant and the NU Grant.
