Have you ever thought about the word, “communion?” If you break it apart, Webster defines the letters of “comm” to mean command; commandant; commander; or commentary. This leaves the remaining letters to create “union”, which means to join together with others for the same purpose. For us as Christians, “Communion” is Christ’s command for us to come together in union at His table, just as He did with the 12 Disciples to celebrate “The Last Supper”. In Luke 22:18-20, Jesus commands us to “Do This In Remembrance of Me.” When we participate in Holy Communion, we are keeping His command by celebrating the New Covenant, who is our Savior, Jesus Christ, as He is our eternal life.
