I have successfully defended my dissertation last week!ย It was a truly rewarding experience. Both members of my dissertation committee said they were impressed by my research, found it highly interesting, and looked forward to seeing where it would lead in the future.ย
Over the past five years, I have planted my own research tree in the field of Korean NLP. I will continue to nurture and grow this tree, striving to make it a strong pillar of Korean NLP in the years to come. ๐ฑ๐ I am truly delighted to have completed my Ph.D. journey!ย
2026. 02 IASEAI 2026
At the end of February, I attended IASEAI 2026 in Paris, a conference focused on Safe and Ethical AI. During the conference, I realized the importance of protecting ourselves as AI continues to advance. Aligning AI with human values and developing safe AI agents is a challenging problem.
One reason this problem is particularly difficult is that there is no clear consensus among researchers about the right direction. Professor Yoshua Bengio introduced the concept of Scientist AI, a non-agentic AI designed to counter autonomous AI agents. The paper "Superintelligent Agents Pose Catastrophic Risks: Can Scientist AI Offer a Safer Path?" ย is something all of us should read. (https://arxiv.org/abs/2502.1565)
