Caring for Yourself in Virtual Reference

For those who work with the public, it may be a struggle to care for one's own self when priorities are placed on caring for the needs of others. Burnout exists among teachers as well as librarians. What steps can librarians, and managers, take to make sure that they are not burning out in virtual reference? How can we provide excellent service while also caring for ourselves? This presentation will go over some ideas that can be integrated into virtual reference, including professional development opportunities as well as building time away from the virtual desk in the work day.
