NaviGAIT is a project initially developed by first-year engineering students as part of the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering course ENGR 0716 The Art of Making: An Introduction to Hands-On System Design and Engineering. More specifically, NaviGAIT began as a cumulative capstone project that roughly spanned the last 8 weeks of the semester. The team responsible for it originally consisted of the following seven members.

What is ENGR 0716 The Art of Making?
According to the professor who teaches the course...
“The Art of Making is a course in how to dive into understanding complex real-world problems and design innovative and effective solutions for them. It is a total immersion in problem solving and design: in one semester students create 5 individual projects and 4 team projects including an intensive 2-month team capstone project. Students also learn to persuasively share their ideas and communicate their work: they give 12 team presentations as well as make 3 web sites and 3 videos. Students learn design thinking, prototyping, teamwork, project management and how to use rapid, iterative prototyping and user testing to solve the right problems and make effective, data-driven designs."
