Sampson

Sampson-class destroyers served the United States Navy during World War I, and a total of 6 were built between the years of 1915 and 1917.

Sampson-class destroyers served between the years of 1916 to 1946.

Preceded by: Tucker-class destroyer

Succeeded by: Caldwell-class destroyer

All six of the Sampson-class destroyers served as escorts during World War I. Two were moved to the United States Coast Guard after WWI , however five of the six were scrapped in accordance with the London Naval Treaty between the years of 1934 and 1936. Only USS Allen remained in service into World War II.
