Fargo-Class Cruisers were built for the United States Navy during the years of 1943 to 1945. They were based on the Cleveland Class with the superstructure modified to improve the firing arc of the anti-aircraft battery and other improvements. 13 were planned, but only 2 were completed.

Both Fargo Class Cruisers ships arrived too late for wartime service and after short periods of active service were placed into the reserve in 1949-50
