USS Guam

USS Guam was an Alaska-Class Battlecruiser and is a "Time-Limited" Premium Ship in our game, and was built for the United States Navy between the years of 1942 and 1943, and was of the Alaska Class 'Large Cruisers'(Battlecruisers). There were 2 Alaska Class completed.

First & Last in concept

USS Guam entered World War II in January 1945, And Midway to join the rest of Task Force 58 for a raid on the mainland Japanese islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, which was attacked by Japanese kamikazes and bombers upon arrival. After escorting the damaged carrier Franklin back to Port, she rejoined Task Force 58 now at Okinawa. Later she joined Task Group 38.4 of the Third Fleet, where she continued to provide anti-aircraft defense for the carriers while they launched fighter sweeps of Kyushu. In July of '45, Guam was assigned to Cruiser Task Force 95, where she served as the flagship alongside her sister ship Alaska. They conducted a sweep into the East China and Yellow Seas to sink Japanese shipping, though we're not very successful.  They then joined a major raid including 3 battleships and 3 escort carriers into the estuary of the Yangtze River off Shanghai. Once again they had little success, and  returned to Okinawa by August. After returning to Okinawa, Guam became the flagship of the North China Force, and no further combat action is recorded for her before her decommissioning in 1947.
