USS Alabama

 USS Alabama, a South Dakota-Class Battleship, is a "Time-Limited" Premium Ship in our game. 

USS Alabama served between the years of 1942 to 1947

Preceded by: North Carolina-class battleship

Succeeded by: Iowa-class battleship

USS Alabama saw extensive service during World War II.  Starting in the Mediterranean with the British Fleet assisting in the invasion of Sicily. From there she went to the southern coast of Norway in an attempt to lure KMS Tirpitz out of harbor. From there she traveled to the Pacific Theater, assisting Army and Marine Landings on dozens of islands along the way with both anti-aircraft support and bombardment with her main guns. (The Gilbert Islands, Tarawa atoll, Makin atoll, Nauru island, the Marshall Islands to name a few). Alabama was there for the Battle of the Philippine Sea, Where her radar was the first warning of incoming enemy aircraft for what is now known as "The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot". She bombarded Guam, Tinian and then Saipan. She then supported the landings at Guam & fought enemies in the Carolines. She was there for the liberation of the Philippines, then escorted carriers engaged targets in Okinawa and Taiwan. She supported The Landings on Okinawa, then moved with the fleet towards the mainland of Japan.
