USS Midway

USS Midway, a Midway-Class Aircraft Carrier is a "Time-Limited" Earned by "Honor"/badges" ship in our game. The class were built for the United States Navy during the years of 1943 to 1946.  The Midway class was the result studying the effectiveness of armored decks,  and structural sectionalisation. USS Midway was the first of three carriers of this class to be built.

Midway-Class Aircraft Carriers served between the years of 1945 to 1992.

Midway-Class Aircraft Carriers were transitional ships. They originally displaced forty-five thousand tons, and were envisioned as embarking more than 120 aircraft. The concept proved unworkable, and in fact undesirable. Early experiences demonstrated the difficulty of operating so many planes with four squadrons of Corsairs (sixty-three F4Us) and Helldivers (fifty-three SB2Cs). They were mainly deployed to the Atlantic and Mediterranean to counter the growing Soviet threat.
