The Ranger Class Aircraft Carrier was built for the United States Navy during the years of 1931 to 1934. It was the first aircraft carrier built for the United States Navy to be built originally from the keel up to as an aircraft carrier. Only one of this design was planned and completed.
The Ranger Class Aircraft Carrier served between the years of 1934 to 1946.
Ranger Class Aircraft Carrier was too slow for use with the Pacific Fleet's carrier task forces against Japan, the ship spent most of World War II in the Atlantic Ocean where the German fleet was a weaker opposition. Ranger saw combat in that theatre and provided air support for Operation Torch. In October 1943, she fought in Operation Leader, air attacks on German shipping off Norway.
