Shiratsuyu-Class Destroyer (白露型駆逐艦) were built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during the years of 1931 to 1935. They were extensively modified versions of the Hatsuharu Class, fixing major design flaws. There were 10 built.

Shiratsuyu-Class Destroyers did not survive the war in the Pacific. Most were sunk by US submarines, Shiratsuyu in a collision with the oiler Seiyo Maru, Kawakaze, Yudachi, and Murasame in surface action. Murasame saw extensive action in the invasion of the Philippines, the Battle of the Java Sea and the Battle of Midway, Guadalcanal Campaign, the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. She was sunk at the Battle of Blackett Strait. Shigure was squadron flagship of Captain Tameichi Hara became one of the most famous Japanese destroyers of the war. She survived numerous battles in the Solomons until she was torpedoed and sunk off the Gulf of Siam by a US Submarine.
