Fubuki-Class Destroyers (吹雪型駆逐艦) were built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during the years of 1926 to 1933. The Fubuki class set a new standard for destroyers around the world, so much so that they were designated Special Type destroyers (特型 Tokugata). There were 24 of this class built.

Fubuki-Class Destroyers served the duration the Pacific War. In November 1942, the Ayanami damaged USS South Dakota during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal before being attacked by USS Washington. She was scuttled the following day by Uranami. In August 1943, John F. Kennedy's famous PT-109 was rammed, split asunder and sunk by the Amagiri, a Fubuki-Class. 8 were sunk by submarines, 2 by mines, the rest by air attacks. Only Hibiki and Ushio survived the war.
