Chikuma-Class Cruisers (筑摩型防護巡洋艦) were built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during the years of 1909 and 1911. Based on the Royal Navys Town class and design of the cruiser Tone, they were the first phase of a project to build a high speed navy. The IJN built 3 of this class.

Chikuma-Class Cruisers Chikuma, Yahagi & Hirado all conducted operations in World War I in the Pacific Ocean. Yahagi & Hirado then assisted in the Siberian Intervention and the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
