Preceded by: Tsukuba class
Succeeded by: Kongō class
Ibuki-Class Battlecruisers started out as armored Cruisers, but in 1912 or reclassified as battlecruisers. The development of the battlecruiser the year before Ibuki was completed made her and her sister ship Kurama obsolete before they were completed because the foreign battlecruisers were much more heavily armed and faster. They played no significant parts in any military campaigns and were retired and scrapped in 1923.
