HMS Sturgeon was an S-Class Submarine built for the Royal Navy during the years of 1931 and 1932. S-Class Submarines were originally designed and built to replace the aging H-Class Submarine and patrol Britain's restricted waters in the North Sea, and the waters of the Mediterranean. There were 3 different builds of this class during her construction period, with 62 over-all being completed.
HMS Sturgeon served between the years of 1933 to 1946.

HMS Sturgeon was the second of four S-Class Submarines of the first of three groups built. Each group being bigger and improved than the previous build. She was the first British Submarine to sink an enemy ship during WWII during her fourth combat patrol of of the North Sea, sinking the armed trawler V-209 in November of 1939. This was a huge morale boost for the British Submarine Service. She continued a successful carrier with the Royal Navy during WWII, sighting and sinking many ships in the North Sea, the Bay of Biscay before spending 6 rather uneventful months in the Mediterranean before being loaned to the Royal Netherlands Navy (Being renamed RnMs Zeehond).
Of the four original submarines of the first group, HMS Sturgeon was the only survivor of WWII
