The recreational team creates an opportunity for people who want to play tennis without the stress of competing! Anyone is welcome to join the rec team whether you have played your whole life or have never held a racket before. Joining the rec team is a great way to meet new people, increase your tennis skills, get exercise, and have tons of fun!Â
The competitive team fills the gap between recreational and collegiate tennis, with the team competing in the national USTA Tennis on Campus league in mixed-gender WorldTeamTennis (WTT) format within the USTA Southwest Section. The team works hard to compete for the Southwest Sectional Championship, Invitationals, and the National Championship.
Competitive members generally have varsity high school or USTA club tennis experience which allows for a higher level of play than what the recreational team has to offer, with players typically ranging from an NTRP rating of 3.5 to 5.0.
NAU primarily competes as one of the 8 members of the USTA TOC Southwest Section conference, which includes the major schools in the region.
