Anna is known for her love of cats, big and small, but she also loves nature! She would love to see a cougar (at a safe distance), and likes to hike anywhere with a nice view. She is the volunteer and communications wizard at the ASCCA, and she created our website. When hiking, she recommends bringing a big bottle of water and sunscreen, as well as your camera for sharing great shots with your friends.
Hi! My name is Tiana and I have been a day camp volunteer for 3 years! If I could be any animal I would be a dog, because they get to sleep all day. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life it would be potatoes, because you can have them in a variety of ways. My favourite plant is the rose, because they smell really nice, and are very pretty. My favourite type of habitat would be the forest!
Hi. I’m Kitty-Kathryn because I love cats (we have four of them;) My favourite animal is the trumpeter swan. If I had to choose a different habitat it would definitely be the Atlantic ocean. I love the ocean! When I go hiking I always bring a first aid kit and homemade granola bars.
Jen is an aspiring Wilderness Explorer, as her favourite Disney move is the film UP! She enjoys Hiking, biking, canoeing, and making smores around the campfire. If she was an animal, she would be an elephant because they are tall, close with their family, and have an incredible memory. “Olifant” (elephant) was Jen’s first word she learnt in Dutch. Jen feels most at home in the Rocky Mountains and enjoys learning about all the plants and wildlife in the area. Kylo (Jen's trusty adventure buddy!) Loves to explore on hikes (on-leash), walks, and dog parks where he believes in the leave no trace principals.
Welcome to the Nature Safari. As you can see, I am waiting for you to catch up! My name is Gardener Gary, and I love all green things (except, of course for Poison Ivy which you don’t want to sit in – but that is a story for another time). You will usually find me hanging around my green friends, making sure that they are well taken care of and are providing a good home for all the insects in our world. I really wish I could be a chameleon so that I could turn green and not scare off the other animals as I watched them frolic in the woods. Have fun and keep your eyes open because you never know where I will be found.
Hi, there I’m Twinkle Toes Shay Tay or just Shay for short. I feel most at home anywhere I can paint, listen to music, or be surrounded by my friends and family. My favourite plant would have to be a Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa) not only for its appearance but it makes, my favourite Trinidadian drink, Sorrel and, it has some added health benefits too. If I had to pick one food to eat for the rest of my life, it would most likely be a donair. You could probably find me in a forest habitat as there's plenty of places to camouflage in.
Hi! I’m 16 years old and I’ve started going to nature camp since I was was a kid. The last few years I’ve been a volunteer with daycamps. If I could be an animal I would be a Fox because they are my favourite animal. Every summer I love to go to Panorama with my family and enjoy the outdoors. I love succulents because they are the only thing I can keep alive. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be chicken noodle soup. I hope you have fun doing online nature camp!
Hey my name is Noah and if I was an animal I would be a dog; you get sleep, eat and repeat. My favourite place to spend time in nature is the mountains because of the incredible view. One thing I would bring on a hike is a pizza sub from Subway. If I could eat one food for the rest of my life it would be tacos. You can change up what you want in your taco everyday so you would never get bored. I'm really excited to be apart of this online adventure with you!
Hello! My name is Zachary and I am super excited to show you some sounds and sites of nature! For me there is nothing better than taking a slow walk in the forest while using all of my senses to observe my surroundings. The best animal sightings occur when your feet take you places, and your mind is free to roam. Don’t take my word for it, try it yourself! If I could be one animal, it would be a wolf. That way I could explore the forest anytime.
Hi! I think I started nature camp when I was five years old and last year I became an official nature camp volunteer. I love seeing all the different animals at nature camp. I would like to be a blue and gold macaw because I like their colours. I really like going to the pond because I like seeing the frogs and all the weird animals Laura finds down there. My favourite plant is a shooting star. If I was going on a hike I would bring music. I hope you enjoy the activities.
Nature is just one of my favourite places to be. I love walking through a forest feeling hugged by my tree and plant friends. A walk through the grasslands makes me happy and when the wind turns the grassland into an ocean of green with the waves rolling by, it's awesome. And don’t get me started on mountains and oceans. One of my favourite plants is the lupine. The lupine has many beautiful shades and always has lots of friends. It also catches water in its leaves which is pretty cool. Nature is home to me.
We may be two birds of a different feather but we certainly like to stick together. We explore nature wherever and whenever we find it, after all nature doesn’t turn off when the sun goes down. One of our favourite plants is the delicious and pioneering dandelion. We prefer a habitat where water can be found, but Laura doesn’t mind if it is in frozen form or not and water vapor is in the air, so…everywhere. If you have Safari questions you should definitely ask her, rumor has it she might know what is going on.
If I could be an animal, I would be a dog because I would be able to sit around all day and sleep. I would hopefully have great owners who loved and adored me, which would also be a bonus. I feel at home on a top of a mountain, it is extremely peaceful and quiet. It truly makes you appreciate Gods great earth. I love hikes, so I guess anywhere with a trail. My favourite plant is the Amorphophallus Titanum, it is a plant native to Sumatra, which is an island in Indonesia. They can grow up to 12 feet high, its crazy! I would bring my favourite giant Columbus hiking bag, 3 bottles of water, a change of clothes, socks, glasses, snacks (lunch), sunscreen and bugs spray. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, I would eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal! I probably wouldn’t stay very healthy that long with that as my meal everyday, but its worth it. I would be found in a forest habitat. Forests extend over about one third of the worlds land surface, so I would have a lot of exploring to do.
I’m a retired research scientist who spent my career developing oil sands processing technologies with improved environmental and economic performance. I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, cycling and skiing and in retirement I became a hobby beekeeper. But the thing I like the most is being a grandfather and spending time with my grandson. If I was an animal I’d be a tiger, I feel completely at home on my acreage, I love to hike and ski in the mountains, my favourite plant is all of them, I like to take homemade soup on hikes, if I had to eat one food for the rest of my life it would definitely be pasta cause there are so many shapes and types, and I would most likely be found in a rural habitat!
