Camp Activities

I find that I remember little details about what I observe when I try to draw what I see.  I will help the kids create their own field guides for plants, insects and birds, based on their own collections and observations. 

We will find far away creatures and make observations using an amazing scientific tool!  We will also learn to recognize birds by their calls and make a detailed bird log of all the things we see and hear.

These are such an amazing tool!! I have a lens that can turn my phone or iPad into a microscope.  They are very user-friendly and great for kids.  We'll make lots of cool observations with these!

We will collect samples of everything we can find.  These will be used for short term observations.  Some items will be kept for specimen collections, but the majority will be returned to where they were found.

I will have microscopes for our use out in the wild - I love the idea that we can see multiple perspectives on organisms, and what better way than to take these outside instead of waiting to head back to a lab with your samples!

I am extremely observant, and I have a knack for finding things typically unseen.  I also have a knack for remembering things.  This helps me in being an excellent naturalist!  I hope that I can pass on some of these skills to your kids!
