My name is Natt Hongdilokkul. I am currently a postdoc fellow in Developing Asia Health Policy at Stanford University and a prospective postdoc fellow at BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. I received a PhD in Economics from Simon Fraser University in 2017. I am a health and development economist, who strives for bridging my research, policy and public awareness. You may find more details in my CV .
My research on Thailand's universal health coverage aims to empirically give comprehensive answers to widely debated questions, for example, “should government finance the universal health coverage program by raising coinsurance?”, or “does health insurance make its enrollees smoke and drink more?”. You can find my answers to those questions in my job market paper and another working paper. Casting doubts on the common belief which attributes poverty to self-inflicted behaviors, including gambling, my coauthored paper aims to shed light on gambling behavior and the effect of policy intervention using Thailand's 2003 Black market lottery crackdown as a quasi-experiment.
Besides the research experience, I have nine years of teaching experience in Canada and Thailand. I taught three courses as an instructor at Simon Fraser University, Canada, and Dhonburi Rajabhat University, Thailand, and 24 courses as a teaching assistant at Simon Fraser University. My teaching effectiveness is evidenced by my latest teaching evaluation.
