NATS 2333 Energy Water & the Environment

NATS 2333 Course Description

This course is an introduction to the impacts that humans have on the environment, with emphasis on consequences of energy and water usage. The course addresses how we, as stewards, can make sound technical decisions about strategies to ameliorate those effects.

Important Note: I am not the primary instructor for this course. I will cover climate change, nuclear energy, and environmental justice. I will attend most class periods in person and will be a resource for you.

Questions I will ask often in class:

Who is telling the story? Which parts of the story are being told?
Who holds the power? Who makes the decisions?
Is this good for marginalized people? Who gets to decide?
What assumptions are made about people of Color?
What intersectionalities have I noticed, and what does that mean for people with marginalized identities?

You will attend each class, ready to participate. That means having watched, read, or listened to class materials prior to the beginning of class.
If you are unable to attend class due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, please let me know (via Teams/email) as soon as possible.
