PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: Raja Malla Shah Tomar, the Raja of Kuraitha (in Chambal region) waged war against the British Government in 1857. In a fierce battle fought on the banks of River Chambal, the brave Raja of Kuraitha lost against British Government. During his lifetime, Raja Malla Shah Tomar had made seven matrimonial alliances with other Kingdoms. One of his Queens was from the ruling Jaiwar (Janwaar) Rajput Royal house of Kashipura, a Thikana of erstwhile Charkhari Estate in Bundelkhand region (Central India). After having lost his Kingdom in 1857, his father-in-law, a Jaiwar (Janwaar) Rajput Ruler granted Kashipura Jagir in favour of his grandson i.e, the son of Raja Malla Shah Tomar of Kuraitha. The rulers of Kashipura have been true devotees of Maa Durga and they follow the age old tradition of performing Satchandi Mahayagya during Navratras, which is followed by a big religious ceremony where people gather from various villages. During their rule, a number of wells, temples were constructed and a School was established for public welfare. In an incident, once a priceless ashtdhatu idol of Maa Kaali was stolen by thieves from Maa Kali Temple at Kashipura and it is said that Thakur Devi Singh Judev, 5th Thakur Saheb of Kashipura, saw this entire incident in his dream. Soon, he recovered the idol from the possession of thieves. He was offered money instead of the idol but he blatantly refused and rebuked the thief saying that a mother is never sold. Thereafter, the astdhatu idol of Maa Kali was re-established by him in the Maa Kali temple. Kashipura has witnessed long history of religious rulers and its people, their bravery, respect for tradition and love for the nation. Estate holders were....
