Google Earth tutorials from the 2020 Indigenous Mapping Workshop in Canada
You will need to have Google Earth Pro on your computer (this is a downloaded desktop application, it will not work on Google Earth Web which is a browser based application)
If you do not have Google Earth Pro on your computer, you can download it for free here https://www.google.com/earth/download/gep/agree.html?hl=en-GB
Once you have Google Earth Pro on your computer, open it and Click File > Open then search for the KMZ (or KML) file that your Canadian colleagues sent you. Select that file and open it (you may have to wait a few minutes if it is a big file).
Once the file is open, click on the little triangle next to the folder to open it, click on the box until you see a check mark to turn it on, and then click on the entries in the left sidebar to zoom to the locations. If you click on the icon or line or polygon, there will be a popup that contains information about that location.
