7th Grade students in Frank H. Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth Maine studied about Indian tribes that are part of the state's culture. Today, there are four Maine tribes. They are the Maliseet, Micmac, Penobscot, and Passamaquoddy. Together, they are known as the Wabanaki, which means "people of the Dawnland."
The tribes have their own government, land, and schools. They manage their own lands.
As the students studied about their native American neighbors, they did research about the history of the tribes, and created Google Slide presentations to summarize what they learned.
