Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School Shines at National Science Expo 2024-25
Students of Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School actively participated in the National Science Expo 2024-25, held at Amity International School, Sector-46, Gurugram, from 29th January to 1st February 2025.
Avyukth H J and Shambhavi Sharma of Class 7 showcased their innovation by presenting a working model titled “Disaster-Proof Building with IoT-Enabled Multi-Hazard Detection System” under the sub-theme “Disaster Management.”
In today’s world, buildings near industrial zones are highly vulnerable to disasters such as gas leaks, fires, floods, and earthquakes. The need for immediate detection and rapid response is crucial to ensuring the safety of occupants. This project introduces a Disaster-Proof Building that integrates multiple sensors to detect hazardous events in real time.
Using the Wemos D1 Mini IoT controller, the system is designed to:
· Detect gas leaks, fires, floods, and earthquakes.
· Send real-time alerts for quick response.
· Activate safety measures such as oxygen cylinder prompts, water sprayers, and life boats to safeguard occupants during emergencies.
This innovative solution highlights the power of technology-driven disaster management, ensuring enhanced safety and preparedness for buildings in high-risk areas.
