This election is a unique opportunity for change, reform, and a restoration of the sort of functional, competent governance which has been sorely missed ever since the parties of the left took power.
This term National has been hard at work bringing the country back on track. We have passed reforms on Kiwisaver, strengthened the forestry sector, and brought about more cultural facilities across the country. More substantively, we worked with other parties from Opposition, called out the missteps of the government, and brought back dignity to our politics after continuous scandals from within the prior administration. We transitioned from a dignified, principled Opposition to a confidence-and-supply arrangement which fulfilled our duty to the public at large and our duty to those who supported us in the last General Election.
Now, we are asking for your support so that we may deliver policy which unites our country and delivers for the whole of the country.
Here, you will find our policy prescriptions, goals, and aspirations for the Seventh Parliament. Our values of justice, individual liberties, and free enterprise are represented in turn. We are offering substantive reforms where others have failed.
Of principle interest will be our eight-point policy for economic reform. After two terms of left wing policy, New Zealand needs to make a dedicated commitment to increasing prosperity, opportunity, and fairness in our economy. National will push for selective privatisation, cut red-tape, increased foreign direct investment, lower taxes, expanded trade, infrastructure development, reduced waste, and optimised state-owned enterprises. These reforms will yield more jobs, higher wages, and greater competition in our country.
National also will continue our efforts to ensure New Zealand is more whole. We will pursue policy which expands public health where the left has left problems unaddressed. We will work to ensure our country has access to better education, work, and housing opportunities. We will push for sensible reform to keep New Zealand safe while expanding personal liberties. I invite you to read more, because it would be too much to describe at length.
Abroad, National is, and will remain, and outward-looking party. We see opportunity in international cooperation and openness, as we know it yields a safer, freer, happier world. To this end, we will pursue new trade opportunities and expand defence cooperation. National will support legislation to advance global security and terrorism by introducing autonomous sanctions legislation.
These are simply a few of the policies I am most excited about, but we all have our preferences. Take a look! I invite everyone to find their own piece of the National Party vision that they enjoy.
This election, National is offering a platform of optimism and positive reform. It will be our time to come together and ensure that this country can be put back on firm footing. I hope that you may join us in this endeavour, as we all want a better New Zealand.
