The Canadian National Public Speaking Championships was founded in 1984 by St. John's-Ravenscourt School. It involves the top high school debaters and public speakers from across Canada. Competitors are selected by their provinces, usually by the provincial debate association, with a set quota per province. The top speakers at the Nationals, along with the top Canadian speakers at the Internationals, represent Canada at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships (click here for information on that event).
