The California National Guard have 4 fully functioning sub-divisions which are one of the main highlights of the National Guard.
Air National Guard
The most used sub-division is the California Air National Guard (ANG). In order to join the Air National Guard, you would need to accumulate the rank of an E-5 (SGT) Or higher. Air National Guard is a subdivision of the National Guard that focuses primarily on aerial missions, support, and reconnaissance. To join the ANG, you must have the rank of E-5 or higher. Your rank in ANG is based on your rank in NG, so the more you rank up in NG the higher your rank in ANG. The higher your rank in ANG, the more special jets will be unlocked for you to fly.

972nd Military Police Regiment
The second most active sub-division within the National Guard is the 972nd Military Police Regiment. The regiment is a subdivision of the National Guard that focuses primarily on base security, checkpoints, peacekeeping missions, and scene control. To join the NGMP, you must have the rank of E-4 and make a roster request. Your rank in the regiment is based on your activity in regiment. The division also consists of another division called C.I.D (Crime Investigations Division). Those who are chosen to be C.I.D are to be respected as the only way to get into C.I.D is by being strictly handpicked.

National Guard 19th Special Forces Group
The 19th Special Forces Group is responsible for Combat Intelligence within the National Guard, they work within the special operations group category. This unit is made up of some of the National Guard’s best and hardest working members, you do not have to be the smartest, fastest or strongest person in the world to be selected for the 19th Special Forces Group. Teamwork skills is the number one thing our Command team looks for when we select members for a tryout. This team works closely with the NGIU, we have two liaisons within the NGIU that gather intel for us to use before a mission.

National Guard Intelligence unit (NGIU)! The National Guard Intelligence Unit is a subdivision of the National Guard that focuses primarily on recon missions and intel gathering. To join the NGIU, you must have the rank of O-1+ and make a roster request. From there, you will undergo training for NGIU and go on your first operation.
