What is the National Economics Challenge?

The National Economics Challenge is a National competition where teams use their economics knowledge to compete individually and as a team in competitions at state, National semi-final, and National final levels.

Teams compete in two divisions:

  1. the Adam Smith division:
    • Designed for A.P., international baccalaureate, and honors students.

2. the David Ricardo division:

    • Designed for students in semester-long general economics or for students who have no experience with economics whatsoever.
    • Only allowed to compete in this division one time.

Participants will form teams of 3-4 (or can decide to go solo and group up at the end of the season if that's preferred) and use our weekly practices to prepare for the wildcard competition in early April. Those who pass that advance to the semi-finals and after that they compete in the finals in New York.

In New York, the finalists will be given cash prizes with the top prize being of $1,000.

Competitions consist of multiple choice questions regarding microeconomics, macroeconomics, international, and current events.
